American Teacher

  • After watching the movie, what was your first impression?  How did your view of the profession change;  better, different or worse?  Explain.
  • After watching the movie my first impression was if this movie doesn't officially make up your mind about if you want to be a teacher or not then I do not know what else would. My profession changed for the better. I am willing to put in all my time and effort to the kids I want to make a difference in the world.
  • What did you feel was the biggest frustration the teachers had with teaching?
  • The biggest frustration that teachers had with teaching was that they didn't have enough time in in the day to do everything they needed to do.
  • Describe some ways teaching conditions could improve without an increase in money?
  • Some ways teaching conditions could improve is making more time in the day for teachers to plan.

Procrastination

  • Poor Time Management. Procrastination means not managing time wisely. You may be uncertain of your priorities, goals and objectives. You may also be overwhelmed with the task. As a result, you keep putting off your academic assignments for a later date, or spending a great deal of time with your friends and social activities, or worrying about your upcoming examination, class project and papers rather than completing them.
  • I have very poor time management sills. I usually just don't want to take time out of my extra circular activities and hanging out with my friends before my academic classes. I would rather hang out with my friends then to stay home and do home work. I just cant get started once I get started I can finish anything. I usually wait till the last day to even try and get started.
  • Discipline yourself to use time wisely: Set priorities.
  • I need to discipline myself more. I need to stay home at least two times a week, take time out of hanging out with my friends and extra circular activities.

My first week as a teacher

My site school is Spicer Elementary. My mentor teacher is Mrs.Linda Ristow of 2nd grade and I am there for daily 5. Daily 5 is when they have 15 minutes to read, write and then whatever other choice they would like to do involving technology. I felt very welcomed at my site school. My mentor teacher Mrs. Ristow was very welcoming and let me introduce my self and let me take charge in the class room. I am looking forward to getting to know my kids and being in the class room. I love going on field trips with them and being able to be in charge.

Tools for schools

I think the article is talking about how how technology has changed from practically having nothing to everything going to electronically. We use to have to send letters in the mail and have to wait about a week to two weeks for a response, now we can email a person and get a response in less than 20 minutes. In elementary schools the kids are using smart boards and ipods to do lessons on instead of using paper and a pencil.

Mrs.Stevens Random blog aboutDo you think digital media are having a negative impact on kids' attention span? What are the implications for home and school?

I think digital media is having a negative impact on kids attention span because kids because kids are not use to people talking there just use to people typing and not explaining anything. They are not use to lectures they are use to teaching them selfs. The implications digital media has at home are different to the implications they have at school. The implications they have at home is that they don't have to listen to people lecture they can just use digital media, and at school they have to listen to teachers lecture about there assignments and teach them how to do there work.

What facebook does to kids Brains

Facebook rots kids brains. Facebook was started 7 years ago to just college people but now its open to everyone even kids under 13. Facebook is addictive, I personally spend hours and hours on in on facebook. I agree Facebook rots kids brains, I think Facebook is ok to use but not at the age of 13 or even younger since parents are helping younger kids get Facebook. I think Facebook should be strictly for people 15 to 16 years old cause it comes more useful to us for school and stuff.
